Pyramid Peak Water Treatment Plant Expansion Potholing Activity Continuing for Saturday, Aug. 14

The City of Glendale has contracted with Achen-Gardner Construction to conduct potholing at two locations in 67th Avenue, between Beardsley and Pinnacle Peak Roads. One location at Mountain Ridge High School was completed this past weekend, with the second location south of Deer Valley, at Quail Avenue and 67th Avenue, scheduled to occur this coming Saturday. Potholing is a common practice during design and consists of excavating a hole, in this case several feet in diameter, to gather information related to underground utilities and subsurface soil conditions. This work is being done in preparation for installation of access points in the near future, to facilitate an assessment of the water transmission main in this area.

Scheduled to take place Saturday, Aug. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., crews will work in the east side of 67th Avenue, north of Quail Avenue. Traffic will be shifted to the west side of 67th Avenue, reduced to one lane in each direction with left turns restricted at Melinda Lane, and Quail Avenue will be CLOSED at 67th Avenue. Detour signage will be in place to direct travelers around the closure.

Thank you for your patience during this work.
